What's going on in the world?
Pride is still as important today as it was way back in the 1970s when the Stonewall Riots changed the future for how people relate to us. But awful things are still happening everywhere – so here is a tiny round up of some of things happening around the globe.
- 02nd October – Canadian Conservatives under fire for using residential schools memorial to push ‘hateful’ Anti-LGBTQ+ Agenda
11th October – PinkNews published an article stating that only 35% of LGBTQ professionals feel safe being their authentic selves at work
- 19th October – The opening of the first regional NHS gender identity clinic for trans youth has been further delayed, pushing into April next year.
- 29th October – Only 1 in 6 Asexuals have universally positive experience of being out
It’s not all doom and gloom in the queer world as there are still some good news stories happening as well – here are just a few we think should be celebrated.
- 18th October – Philadelphia declared a safe haven for trans people seeking gender-affirming healthcare
- 19th October – Landmark ruling finds that Trans convicts must have access to gender-affirming care in Washington prisons.
- 25th October – Government to drop discriminatory law stopping people with HIV starting a surrogate family
- 29th October – Welsh Government to redefine women to include trans women in landmark gender laws
